Assistant Professor and Director of the Psychology and Human Development Program
Dr. Erika Prijatelj has been a member of Hellenic College faculty since 2019 and Program Director since 2022. She brings extensive training in humanistic, trauma, Gestalt, and developmental psychology, as well as psychosynthesis and pastoral studies. Her academic and professional experience includes work in Slovenia, Canada, France, Japan, Poland, and the United States, with appointments at Boston College, Showa Women’s University, and the University of Cardinal Wyszynski.
Her teaching, research, and practice follow an integrative, trauma-informed approach, blending Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), psychosynthesis, and Internal Family Systems (IFS) with psychoanalytic insights to explore unconscious patterns, early relational experiences, and internal conflicts. Grounded in Person-Centered principles of empathy, presence, and authenticity, she integrates Christian Gestalt to foster growth at the intersection of emotional, sensory, and spiritual experience.
Dr. Prijatelj’s research focuses on developmental and trauma psychology, positive psychology, psychoeducation, and the integration of psychology, spirituality, and culture. She has authored numerous books and peer-reviewed articles, with a particular focus on human development, faith formation, and intercultural dialogue. She serves on the editorial board of The Person and the Challenges and participates in professional associations advancing psychology internationally.
