Student Gather Off-Campus for RoundTable Discussion

Fifteen Hellenic College students gathered at the house of Dean of Students, Deacon Nicholas Belcher, for a RoundTable Discussion and dinner. The topic of this month’s discussion was “Marriage, Homosexuality and Same-Sex Attraction.” The discussions are planned, run and facilitated by students, and participants are given the chance to thoughtfully reflect on their vocation and response as Orthodox Christians to various current events and topics of social and ethical relevance. After an extensive discussion, dinner and dessert, everyone is asked to give a final “response” to a concluding question, posed by the facilitators. Finally, one of the staff-advisors brings a close to the evening by offering a few reflections on the topic as seen from an Orthodox perspective. The next discussion, which will take place on Sunday, November 11, 2012, will focus on “Inter-Faith and Inter-Christian Dialogue: what is our vocation as Orthodox Christians living in a pluralistic society?”
