On Saturday February 25, 2012 Hellenic College welcomed over forty Boston-area Orthodox college students for the St. Photios the Great Faith & Learning Symposium,
which provides Orthodox Christian college students the space to reflect on the relationship between their faith and their lives as college students. This year, John T. Chirban, PhD., ThD., Jeffrey Rediger, M.D., Philip Mamalakis, PhD., offeredpresentations on the topic of faith and psychology. There were student participants from Boston College, Boston University, Harvard University, Hellenic College,
Northeastern University, College of the Holy Cross, MassBay, Tufts University, Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology.
Student-led small group discussions followed the morning’s keynote and centered around
the themes of “How do we Faithfully Learn,” “The Intersection of Spirituality and
Psychotherapy” and “Conflicting Viewpoints in Faith and Psychology” The day concluded
with reflective and informative presentations by the small groups, followed by discussion
with Jonathan Resmini, event chair, debriefing the days events.
