Reverend Father Aristidis Arizi 

 The Reverend Deacon Aristidis Arizi was ordained to the holy priesthood by Metropolitan Alexios of Atlanta at the Annunciation Cathedral in Atlanta. Priests of several Orthodox jurisdictions participated in the ordination liturgy.

Father Aristidis was born in Epiros and at a young age left Greece with his family and moved to Panama where they became members of the Annunciation of the Theotokos par

 

Library Director Scholarly Paper

The Very Rev. Joachim Cotsonis, PhD, Director of the Archbishop Iakovos Library, presented a scholarly paper at the 10th International Symposium of Byzantine Sigillography held at the University of Ioannina, Greece, on October 1-3, 2009. The paper was entitled "The Image of the Doubting Thomas on an Unpublished Seal of the Sixth Century". It was co-authored by Dr. John Nesbitt of Dumbarton Oaks, Harvard Center for Byzantine Studies.

 

Orthodox InterSeminary Movement

The Orthodox InterSeminary Movement will meet on the campus of Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology this weekend, November 6 and 7. Seminarians from Holy Trinity Seminary, Christ the Savior Seminary and St. Vladimir's Seminary in New York, St. Tikhon's Seminary in Pennsylvania, and a seminarian from St.

 

Library Icon on Loan

The Archbishop Iakovos Collection has loaned the icon of St. John the Theologian, c. 1800, to the Museum of Biblical Art (MOBIA) of the American Bible Society in New York for the special exhibition and reception in honor of the visit of the Ecumenical Patriarch, His All Holiness Batrtholomew, Archbishop of Constantinople and New Rome. The exhibit, entitled "Scripture, Image, Life: Orthodox Christianity", will continue through the 24th of January 2010.

 

Priest Ordination

The Rev. Deacon Aristidis Arizi, who will graduate from Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology in May of 2010, will be ordained to the Holy Priesthood on Friday, November 13, 2009, the feast of our Father among the Saints, John Chrysostom, Archbishop of Constantinople.
