Emeritus Professor Reposes

March 09, 2011

It was with great sadness that the HCHC community learned of the repose of Schemamonk Constantine, known in the world as Constantine Cavarnos, PhD. He lived deep into old age and spent the last few years of his life at St. Anthony's Monastery in Florence, Arizona. Although afflicted with many of the maladies common to some one his age, he very much loved being able to spend his last years at St. Anthony's. His slight physical stature belied the energy he displayed throughout his life. He possessed an intellect that was great in its knowledge of, and ability to convey, Orthodox Christian values and Hellenic ideals. His life was the embodiment of the kallos of ancient Hellenism and the piety of Orthodox Christianity.
