The Missions Institute of Orthodox Christianity and Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology are sponsoring a missions conference on “Orthodox Theological Schools and Their Role in the Global Missionary Movement.”
Metropolitan John (Pelushi) of Korca, Albania, will offer the keynote address on “Orthodox Missions and the Resurrection of the Church of Albania” at 7 p.m. Thursday, November 17.
The conference continues on Friday, November 18, from 9:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. Dr. Rev. Michael Oleksa, the former Dean of St. Herman’s Seminary, noted author and a priest serving native Alaskan villages for the past 40 years, will open the day speaking on “St. Vladimir Seminary Graduates in Missions.” Fr. BROOKLINE, Mass. – Hellenic College Holy Cross School of Theology, the oldest and largest Christian Orthodox institution for higher learning in North America, will begin celebrating its 75 years of service to the Church and society.
Activities will begin Oct. 16 with an inaugural dinner cruise in Boston harbor. Several additional events are being planned to mark the 75th over the next two years, recognizing the hierarchs, theologians, professors, students, administrators, alumni, donors and all those who have contributed to what is the most important academic institution for the Church in America. The anniversary celebration will culminate at the May 2013 commencement.

BOSTON - Hellenic College and Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology began the new academic year with renewed hopes and aspirations for new achievements in the academic and spiritual fields.
This year Holy Cross celebrates the 75th anniversary of its establishment by then-Archbishop of America Athenagoras, who later became Ecumenical Patriarch. The school of Theology came first, being housed in Pomfret Connecticut before moving to its current prominent location in Brookline, Massachusetts.
Archbishop Demetrios of America officiated at the Great Vespers on the name day of the School which is dedicated to the Holy Cross of Christ.
Hellenic College Holy Cross is pleased to welcome to
campus the Orthodox Theological Society in America (OTSA), which will hold its
annual meeting beginning this Thursday, September 15, and ending Saturday,
September 17. Its roster is full of noted scholars and researchers, with
fascinating topics ranging from science and philosophy to politics and
theology.
Friday evening features a public event, the annual Florovsky Lecture, this year
given by Rev. Dr. John McGuckin of Union Theological Seminary and Columbia University, a prolific author and
recognized speaker.
