Dr. Demetrios Katos, Associate Professor of Religious Studies and Interim Dean of Hellenic College, recently was invited to the Greek Orthodox Church of Saint Demetrios in Elmhurst, Illinois, to present a lecture as part of the parish's DEMETRIA 2010, the celebration in honor of their patron saint, the Holy Great Martyr Demetrios the Myrrhstreaming. His lecture was entitled "Transformational Encounter", in which he dealt with how Orthodox Christians don't merely attend the Divine Liturgy, they celebrate it. He discussed how to perform that task each week with commitment and understanding as well as how to discover how it affects one's salvation and how everything is transformed in God's presence.
