OVM to Present "Faith & The Arts" Symposium

The St. Photios the Great Faith & Learning Symposium will be held on Saturday, February 23, 2013 in the Library Reading Room at Hellenic College Holy Cross. This annual event provides Orthodox Christian college students from Boston-area colleges and universities the space to reflect on the relationship between their faith and lives as college students. This year we will be exploring the topic of "Faith and the Arts" and will address how we, as Orthodox Christians, understand the relationship between our faith and the arts literature, poetry, theatre and the fine arts.

We will be exploring the following questions:

  1.  What is the place of the arts – literature, poetry, art, music, theater – in the Christian life?
  2.  What is the relationship between the artistic impulse and the experience of faith?
  3.  What does it mean to be an Orthodox Christian artist?
