Dr. Maria Mackavey, Director of the Management and Leadership Program at Hellenic College, held an appreciation breakfast on Thursday May 5, 2011 to thank the site supervisors for the program's internships.
All Management and Leadership students are required to complete an on-site internship in their senior year. Dr. Mackavey said: "We are grateful to the site supervisors for mentoring our students and for sharing their expertise. The program could not function without them. We are also proud of our graduating students who completed their interships this year: Adina Afendoulis worked under the direction of Ms. Celia Campbell in the finance and budget office of the Fletcher School of Government at Tufts University; Stephen Kakis worked under the direction of Mr. Anthony Piccola at a Chick-Fil-A franchise; and Katherine Nunez-Aragon Marcantoni worked under the direction of Dr. Sandra Buford, the Director of Diversity at Massport. Dr. Buford was also recently featured as one of the nation's top 80 women in the special winter edition of Women of Wealth Magazine."
HCHC President, Rev. Nicholas Triantafilou, opened the program with a prayer and remarks and was followed by Hellenic College Dean, Dr. Demetrios Katos, who spoke on the value of internships and the mentoring relationship between site-supervisors and their students. Dr. Buford also made a brief and inspiring presentation to the group about mentoring.
