69th Commencement

The Sixty Ninth Commencement of Hellenic College and Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology took place on the school's campus on Saturday, May 21, 2011. The festivities began the evening before with Great Vespers and Stavrophoria in Holy Cross Chapel, presided over by Archbishop Demetrios, Primate of the Greek Orthodox Church in America. The Stavrophoria is the celebration of granting large school crosses to graduates of Holy Cross.

Commencement Day began with Matins and an Hierarchical Divine Liturgy celebrated by His Eminence, Archbishop Demetrios. Commencement followed in The Pappas Auditorium. As is usual each year, graduates, faculty, hierarchs, the honorary degree recipient and clergy marched from Dowd Hall to The Pappas Auditorium led by banners and an icon of the Resurrection. Fortunately, the day dawned warm and sunny, a wonderful change from the weather that enveloped New England for the previous week.

Hellenic College conferred the degree of Bachelor of Arts on fifteen graduates: Adina Afendoulis (Valedictorian), Lydia Bryant, Ryan Collins, Dn. Shewet Demowez, Fassem El Massih, Katerina Giovos, Danielle Hillas, Stephan Kakis, Konstantinos Kollias, Nikolas Kyritsis, Jonathan McClish, Katherine Nunez-Aragon, Alexander Orphanos, Arielle Tselikis and Anthony Velardocchia.
